"Stretchng for Seniors" is divided into four sections:

Part 1 Ð Demonstration for viewers to follow along with. Daily Exercise Routine: 10 minutes of uninterrupted dance style stretching set to Beethoven's Piano Concerto #1, Largo.

Part 2 - Instruction: An explanation of the exercise movements.

Part 3 Ð Instruction: Movement Principles in Motion: How to create body style.

Part 4 Ð Demonstration: Improvisation by Ann Smith to inspire viewers to improvise along to Aolian King - an original piece of music by Debbie Denke.

For the production, Synergy Dance Studio in Washington, D.C. was chosen for itÕs wooden dance floor and high arched windows. Bright Guys Lighting and Grip with gaffer Dan Rogers and Key Grip Clai Lashley, set up a generator to power large lights outside to spill in through the windows and a Chinese lantern was used in the studio to provide soft front light.

One camera taped throughout the two day production on a large crane operated by Director of Photography Bill Thompson. The second camera operated by Sheila Smith taped primarily from the front at eye level or lower. Dolly and track were used for Part 3.

An introduction with Ann Smith was taped earlier in a meditation room at Synergy Studios and lit by Sheila Smith.

Ann Smith was a modern dancer who began specializing in exercise with the publication of her first book, Stretch. She currently teaches Stretch Exercise and lectures throughout the US and Europe and has several additional fitness and health videos in distribution.
Quotes from
"Stretching with Seniors"
Ann Smith: "The classical dancer's body is the epitome of graceful flexibility. That's the style within which I crafted this system of exercise. It is a slow continuous stretching that flows from the inside to create a healthy, well-proportioned body with muscles that are taut rather than bulging. It's painless, easy and energizing, and it works for any age or body type. It's especially good for older people and those with arthritis or osteoporosis."
